Well, that depends.
Since we are a non-profit you have the choice to give as much time as your schedule allows. Some of our events are purely for fun and other events help to raise money for children experiencing poverty. The first year you are with us, as a Provisional, there is a minimum amount of hours you need to give. After that, it’s up to you the time you want to give. As for money, there are the yearly dues and your required donation to the yearly auction.
It varies. Many people have been members for 20+ years. Others join, take a break because of personal reasons, and then come back later. Christ Child Society of Pasadena is a wonderful way to share and enjoy Catholicism, make friends and locally give to others in need.
That’s a good question! Every Provisional (new member) has a Sponsor and Co-Sponsor propose a potential new Provisional. Provisional candidates are approved by the Board at their March meeting. Once voted upon, the new Provisional candidates receive an official invitation from Christ Child of Pasadena to join, and then they are introduced at the Memorial Mass, Annual Meeting and Luncheon in May.
The following are the Sponsorship obligations:
Yes. We adhere to strict non-profit accounting rules and also communicate our board minutes and goals with the National Christ Child Society organization.
We try to talk to you to understand your situation. Everyone has “life” happen to them. Some of our members have moved out of the area but still support the organization because they believe in what we do and how we help. We have a variety of different membership status’s such as Active, Sustaining, Non-resident, Honorary, and others.
The bottom line is that we hope you can continue to be a part of our organization; at the same time we understand if you have to drop out.
Each year we ask members to support Christ Child Society of Pasadena through membership dues and a $100 contribution to support our annual fundraiser that directly impacts our programs. Additionally, we have several opportunities throughout the year to fund specific projects.
All of our programs are funded thanks to the generosity of our members. Because we are an all volunteer organization, every dollar donated goes directly to children who most need our help.
Part of our annual dues go to the National Christ Child Society. They help to support our programs by giving us guidance and suggested programs that we have the choice to implement. They also do most of the social outreach for the organization as a whole. In addition, they put on an annual convention that all members are invited to attend. The National Christ Child Society encourages all chapters to come together, especially at the yearly convention.
