Each year the Christ Child Society of Pasadena gives money to deserving children and families from the generosity of current and past Christ Child Society of Pasadena members. As caretakers of these funds, we ensure that they are passed onto children and families in need within our San Gabriel Valley parishes and catholic schools.
We are most grateful to our members who donate. These donations provide children and families with needed resources.
At our Annual Memorial Mass, Meeting and Luncheon the following scholarships awarded.
Sharon Thralls was a beloved member of our Christ Child Society chapter from 1993 to 2017. In addition to Christ Child Society, Sharon was active in many philanthropic works. Especially near and dear to her heart was assisting the needs of underserved children and Catholic education. As a long-time St. Philip the Apostle parishioner, she was a founding member of their school board. In her final will, she left her funds for an endowed scholarship to assist a St. Philip the Apostle School student with tuition. Christ Child Society is pleased to present this annual scholarship in Sharon’s honor.
Sister Mary Wilfrid Yore was a very special person committed to the charities, works, and purposes of the Christ Child Society. She was an active member of St. Andrew Parish, an advocate of Catholic education, and a dedicated friend to children and youth. To honor her and her association with the Christ Child Society of Pasadena, an annual financial aid scholarship has been established for a student at St. Andrew Catholic School.
Henrietta Herrmann was a beloved member of our Christ Child chapter for 20 years. She chaired the Memorials and Remembrances Committee from 1982 to 1990 and was active in three bridge groups until her death in 1992. A daily communicant, Henrietta was an involved member of St. Philip the Apostle Parish. She was one of the first lay lectors and took great pride in preparing the daily altar linens.
Her family has given an endowed scholarship fund to the Christ Child Society of Pasadena in her honor. A Catholic education scholarship is awarded yearly by the Christ Child Society of Pasadena to one 8th grade girl and boy attending St. Philip the Apostle School.
Sister Mary Wilfrid Yore was an Honorary Member of the Christ Child Society of Pasadena. Sister served Mayfield Senior School for over 45 years and was dedicated to the socio-economic and ethnic diversity of the student body. Girls from many of the parish schools served by Christ Child of Pasadena in the San Gabriel Valley have benefitted from the scholarship that bears her name. Through the years, the Christ Child Society has donated to this scholarship fund through proceeds from various events.
