Christ Child Society of Pasadena Executive and General Board meetings are held four times a year: typically, in September, January, March, and June. The September meeting is the kickoff meeting for the Christ Child year; the January meeting starts off the new calendar year with planning for spring events; the March meeting includes planning for the Auction, which is often held in March, as well as approving applications for new Provisionals (new members), and proposing the new board. The June meeting serves as a review of the Christ Child year as well as the “New Board” members meeting with the “Old Board” members, who are completing their terms.
Each general board meeting is preceded by a meeting of the Executive Board, usually within the week before the general board meeting. The Executive Board comprises the President, The VP of Programs/President Elect, the VP of Fundraising/Events, the VP of Finance, the Recording Secretary, the VP of Communications, and the Past President/Nominating Chair. In accordance with the Bylaws, the actions of the Executive Board are approved by the general board.
In addition to the general board meetings, the Annual Meeting of the entire membership is held each May on the same day as the Memorial Mass. At the Memorial Mass, the Provisional class is inducted into active membership, the new Provisional class in introduced and the annual scholarships stewarded by the Christ Child Society are awarded. The luncheon that follows the Memorial Mass serves as the Annual Meeting of the membership. The President delivers an annual report, and the Past President introduces the new board, which is then approved by the membership.
Board meetings are held at the Pastoral Center of St. Andrew Church in Pasadena. The Christ Child Society of Pasadena has had a relationship with St. Andrew Church since 1935 and is very grateful that they lend us their support in many forms, including the use of conference rooms and housing our Layettes program. The Pastor at St. Andrew Church serves as the Spiritual Advisor to the Christ Child Society, and has done so since 1935.
